Naming Ceremony

Naming Ceremonies
– A welcome for your child.

A Naming Ceremony is held to celebrate the wonderful occasion of the birth of a child. Your family and friends would be invited to share in your joy and have the opportunity to express their good wishes and hopes for the future, and to officially welcome your child.

This event is a celebration by all of the people involved in your child’s life. It is an opportunity for you to state in front of your family and friends the unconditional love and care, support and encouragement that you will continue to provide as a parent.

You may wish to appoint Godparents, Mentors or Guardians for your child.

Usually Naming Ceremonies are either held at home or one of Townsville’s beautiful parks and gardens.

Naming Dedications of older children
Sometimes children have never had a naming ceremony or christening. A Naming Dedication can be performed. This ceremony is similar to a Naming Ceremony but customised to the age of the child/children. Some couples choose to incorporate a Naming Ceremony or Dedication into their Marriage Ceremony. Ask me about this, if you are interested.

Renewal of Vows & Anniversary Milestones

Renewing your vows is a special celebration for a married couple to reaffirm their love and commitment to each other. These ceremonies often celebrate a special milestone or anniversary.

Often couples who have been married overseas will want a celebration with family and friends on their return so that they too can share in their happiness.

Each couple will want something relevant to themselves and their particular circumstances and I will take the time to discuss what they might like and give suggestions. It will be my pleasure to perform your Ceremony with warmth and feeling.

There are no legal requirements for a Renewal of Vows Ceremony.
A Certificate honouring the occasion is included.

The Commitment Ceremony is not a legal marriage, but a commitment between two people to share their lives together. The Commitment Ceremony is a public expression of love for each other, and the couple's hopes and dreams for the future.

The participation of children, family and/or close friends is encouraged, although not essential.
Commitment Ceremony usually consists of...

  • Introduction and welcome to guests
  • Poetry and/or readings
  • Affirmation of commitment
  • Exchange of rings or gifts
  • Signing of certificates
  • Presentation of Couple and Certificate

And if you have another type of ceremony in mind not mentioned here, please be sure to enquire.
